Franklin Pierce High School and Ford Middle School went on lockdown Thursday after a phone threat.
Someone in the Franklin Pierce High School Counseling Center listened to a voicemail about 9 a.m. that contained a generic threat to the school, Franklin Pierce Schools Superintendent Frank Hewins said.
The high school and nearby middle school were put in lockdown as a precaution.
Both schools are in a modified lockdown until the end of the day, which means students can go about classes regularly, but only authorized personnel can come and go from the school.
Never miss a local story.
After school activities will go on as scheduled.
Hewins said the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department is investigating.
Families have been notified.
