Interested residents have until Feb. 10 to file their applications for appointment to the vacant seat on the DuPont City Council.

The Pierce County Council Tuesday re-launched the process of creating a flood-control zone district, and this time dangled a carrot for areas rarely in danger of flooding: Some tax money collected could go to stormwater control.

The months-long process of redrawing Pierce Transit’s boundary lines is under way, and a new draft map leaves out large chunks of eastern and western Pierce County.

It is going to be the year of the Summer Olympics, in London, and the state Republican convention, in Tacoma. On June 2, the LeMay-America’s Car Museum will open near the Tacoma Dome.
