Tacoma’s high schools are in a modified lockdown Friday following a shooting at Marysville-Pilchuck High School. Tacoma Public Schools posted this to its Facebook page on Friday afternoon.
“This is Dan Voelpel, Public Information Director for Tacoma Public Schools. We are aware of the incident this morning at Marysville-Pilchuck High School north of Everett.
“We want to let you know that there is no evidence that this incident will impact Tacoma Public Schools or our students.
“The Tacoma Police Department has advised all its high schools School Resource Officers and TPD patrol units of the incident. TPD and our School Patrol Officers will be monitoring our schools.
Never miss a local story.
“At this point, simply for precautionary reasons, we have advised all our schools to use their modified lockdown protocol until further notice.
“That means the exterior doors will be locked so please do not visit our schools at this time.
“Once again, there is no evidence this incident will impact Tacoma Public Schools or our students. However, we are taking these steps as precautionary measures.
“Thank you, and we will keep you updated.”
