A replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall is scheduled to be on display for much of this week in the Parkland area on the east side of McChord Air Field.
Company spokesman Tonya Todd said volunteers plan to begin setting up the wall Wednesday at 11707 21st Ave. Court S., Tacoma.
The company is one of several in the Truckload Carriers Association that hauls the traveling wall to locations around the country.
“We are honored and humbled to host The Wall That Heals,” Interstate Distributor president Marc Rogers said in a press release. “Our organization employs a large number of active, reserve and retired military personnel as well as many family members who have served in the Armed Forces. It is important to us to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice in keeping our great country free.”
The Wall That Heals last visited the South Sound in late July, when it was displayed at the Veterans Memorial Museum in Chehalis. It is a replica of the Vietnam Memorial Wall, adjacent to the National Mall in Washington, D.C., which displays the names of the more than 58,000 military service members who died in the Vietnam War.
On Saturday morning, Interstate Distributor plans to host a pancake breakfast as a fundraiser for the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Fund.
