Who should fund Pierce County flood control? Public weighs in
Residents and officials debated Tuesday whether it would be fair for Pierce County to charge all residents the same tax rate to create and operate a new flood-control zone district.
Its coming down to the same old arguments as Pierce County and its cities weigh the formation of a countywide taxing district for flood control.
Gig Harbor officials question why their city is included in Pierce County’s proposed taxing district to pay for flood control when the county’s flood management plan has no projects in the peninsula area.
