    Pacific Lutheran University professor Eric Nelson discusses the value of the school's classics program. A set of provisional recommendations from PLU's Faculty Joint Committee includes eliminating the classics as part of an effort to address budget issues at the school. All told, 31 faculty members could lose their jobs if the university's board of regents approves the recommendations in December. The classics is the only undergraduate program that would be completely eliminated under the provisional recommendations.
