PLU women athletes take little time for glory

Say this about the Pacific Lutheran softball team: They play hard and celebrate fast. They came back from Virginia on Tuesday afternoon with the NCAA Division III National Championship trophy in hand, accepted the boisterous cheers and well-wishes of several hundred fans and classmates at the University Center, and then got back to business.

American Legion Post No. 2 recently opened a second front in its battle with Tacoma’s Karpeles Manuscript Library. The two entities are fighting over a World War II-era cannon that once stood outside the library near Wright Park. The Legionnaires contend the cannon rightfully belongs to them, even though they left the gun behind when they moved out the building more than 20 years ago.
