Capitol’s leaf-blower noise may get slight dampening; full cure would be costly

Lands Commissioner Peter Goldmark asked for a switch to quieter battery-powered devices right away, but state officials in charge of grounds crews say the ones they tested didn’t work well. In a compromise, the state Department of Enterprise Services will buy eight gas-powered blowers that have mufflers and will limit the hours of work around key state buildings.
