A Burlington Northern Santa Fe train hit and killed a 42-year-old man just before 8 p.m. tonight in Steilacoom, according to West Pierce Fire and Rescue.
A woman suffered minor injuries at the Sunnyside Beach pedestrian crossing about 4:45 p.m. in Steilacoom, and was treated and released at the scene, Burlington Northern Santa Fe Spokesman Gus Melonas said. He said the train was reported to be traveling about 6 miles per hour.
Steilacoom School District Superintendent Bill Fritz will host a community conversation from 6:30-7:30 p.m. April 29 at Cherrydale Primary School, 1201 Galloway, Steilacoom.
