LAKEWOOD: About 1,300 customers lose power after insulator falls onto lines

Power was cut to some 1,300 customers of Tacoma Power after an insulator at a transmission station broke and fell onto distribution lines Saturday, said utility spokeswoman Chris Gleason.

Customers affected included the Lakewood Town Center shopping mall and the Clover Park Technical College campus, where Pierce County Republicans were holding their convention.

The distribution lines are operated by Lakeview Light & Power, and electricity was also cut to a number of its customers, as well as to customers of Puget Sound Energy.

Power was restored to Lakeview and to all Tacoma Power customers by 3:30 p.m., Gleason said.
