PIERCE COUNTY: Bodies of snowboarders airlifted off Crystal Mountain
THE NEWS TRIBUNE
Published: June 23rd, 2008 01:00 AM
The bodies of three snowboarders who went missing on Crystal Mountain last December were airlifted off the mountain Sunday.

The bodies of Kevin Carter, 26; Devlin Williams, 29; and Phillip Hollins, 41, all from the Seattle area, were taken to the Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office. Autopsies will determine whether an avalanche killed the men.

Friends of the three men found the bodies Saturday and alerted authorities. The men were last seen Dec. 1 hiking into the backcountry to snowboard.

About 30 members of the Pierce County Sheriff’s Department, Tacoma Mountain Rescue, Everett Mountain Rescue and the Ski Patrol combed the area last December without success.
