State officials are warning clients of Tacoma accountant Charles F. Benton that their financial information may have been compromised.
According to a news release from the Washington Board of Accountancy, Benton was evicted from his office July 3 because he couldn’t pay his rent.
His confidential records and computers were set out in the street. Parties unknown made off with the computers and possibly with potentially sensitive records and information.
Benton’s clients were urged to monitor their accounts for fraud and consider contacting the major credit reporting agencies.
