Community members can sing and dance while helping homeless youth at “Zumbathon 2009” this Saturday at Graham-Kapowsin High School.
Participants will do “Zumba,” which combines Latin dance, fitness and cardio movements for people of any age or fitness level, according to a news release.
Graham Kapowsin Community Council is sponsoring the event, which includes door prizes and live drumming.
It will run from 9:30 a.m. to noon in the gym, 22100 108th Ave. E. Early registration costs $10 if received on or before Wednesday. Registration the day of the event is $15. For information, call 253-948-6845 or e-mail Realitybus@aol.com.
All proceeds will support the Youth Resources Homeless and At-Risk Drop-in Center under construction in Spanaway. The center will assist homeless youth with food, clothing, counseling, laundry and shower facilities, and drug and mental health intervention.
