Tacoma police caught up Thursday with a man who’s been sought for more than two years in connection with a 2004 gang-motivated slaying on the East Side.

Danny Cherm, 25, was one of the longest tenured faces on the Police Department’s Most Wanted list before his arrest Thursday.

Prosecutors charged him in December 2006 with first-degree murder in the shooting death of 19-year-old Saron Tith. An arrest warrant was issued at the time.

Police found him Thursday after detectives received information he was in the city, spokesman Mark Fulghum said.

“They went out looking for him, located him and he was taken into custody without incident,” Fulghum said.

No other details of the arrest were available.

Cherm was booked into the Pierce County Jail on the murder warrant and unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver.

He is one of three men charged with shooting Tith, who was killed May 23, 2004, on the East Side in a gang-on-gang shooting.

On the night of his death, Tith was in a car with other gang members when they passed a group from a rival gang, according to court documents. The riders flung hand gestures toward the other gangsters.

About 10 minutes later, the car carrying Tith reached East 39th Street and Roosevelt Avenue and a group of young men concealed in bushes emerged and shot at it. Tith was shot and killed.

Miquel Diaz Elrod pleaded guilty to second-degree murder in Tith’s death and was sentenced to 22 years in prison.

Bunnan Orn, pleaded guilty to second-degree assault and was sentenced to nine months in custody.
