Tacoma: NAACP wants federal review of ex-principal's rape case
CommentsThe NAACP office in Seattle has called a news conference Wednesday in Tacoma where it says it will ask the Justice Department to review the case of a former school principal to see if his civil rights are being violated.
The NAACP says a flawed police investigation led to the prosecution of Harold Wright Jr.
Wright was principal of Baker Middle School in Tacoma when he and another man were charged with assaulting a 19-year-old woman he knew from being an assistant principal and Spanaway Lake High School.
The men were convicted in 2007 of third-degree rape, and an appeals court last week overturned the conviction. Pierce County prosecutors plan to appeal to the state Supreme Court.
