Pierce County prosecutors have filed robbery charges against a 22-year-old man suspected of robbing a South End bank branch Saturday.
Prosecutors charged Andrew S. Carter on Tuesday with first-degree robbery and two counts of attempted first-degree robbery.
They allege he robbed the Columbia Bank, 201 S. 84th St., at gunpoint. Prosecutors also said that he tried to rob an elderly customer and demanded the car keys of a teller he held up at gunpoint. The teller gave the robber the bank keys instead, court documents state.
A witness followed the robber until police were behind his getaway car. Officers took Carter into custody after a brief foot chase. Officers found the stolen bank keys, a handgun and a backpack, court documents state.
