Elected officials, educators, business leaders and advocates for kids will gather Friday at the Tacoma campus of The Evergreen State College to discuss ways to increase the high school graduation rate in Pierce County.
The Pierce County Graduation Summit, which is open to the public, is one of 100 such gatherings nationwide that is being coordinated by America’s Promise Alliance. The organization calls for solutions that include everything from curriculum reform in schools to after-school programs. United Way of Pierce County, Metro Parks, Communities in Schools and other groups that work with youth will help lead Friday’s meeting.
Registration opens at 8 a.m. and the event continues until 3 p.m. For more information and to register, call 253-597-4257 or e-mail pcgradsummit@uwpc.org.
