CommentsA driver killed Sunday when his SUV crashed off Valley Avenue East near Sumner was identified Monday as a 46-year-old Puyallup resident.
The Pierce County Medical Examiner’s Office said the driver was Kevin Moore.
The crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. Sunday in the 12900 block of Valley Avenue East.
Moore was driving a Chevrolet Suburban when he lost control of the SUV, which left the road, went through some overgrown brush and down an embankment, Pierce County sheriff’s spokesman Ed Troyer said. The vehicle hit a tree and ended up in a nearby pond.
Moore died after he was thrown from the Suburban. The sheriff’s dive team was called to see if there were any passengers but found none, Troyer said.
Investigators suspect speed was a factor in the crash, Troyer said.
