Next year, the Genius Bar will open at the Tacoma Mall. Next door, find all the beauty products a heart desires.
Tacoma Mall spokeswoman Sarah Bonds said Thursday that an Apple computer store and a Sephora beauty store will be two of three new tenants in the space once occupied by Nordstrom, which moved to a new building in the mall last fall.
The third tenant can’t be identified, Bonds said – “the deal’s just not fully executed yet.” But that tenant will take most of the space in the 100,000-plus square-foot, two-story store and will have the outside entrances. All three will have mall entrances, she said.
Cupertino, Calif.-based Apple’s stores sell Macintosh computers, software, gadgets including the iPod, and accessories. One popular feature is a Genius Bar, where Apple employees offer technical support and repairs for owners of Apple devices.
Amy Barney, a spokeswoman for Apple, wouldn’t comment other than to say Apple has made no announcement about a store in that location. She made the same comment last fall when asked for comment about job listings on Apple’s site for Tacoma store employees.
Bonds said the Apple store and Sephora will open in late spring or early summer of next year, and that the third tenant will open sometime next year.
Sephora is a division of luxury product group Mot Hennessy Louis Vuitton, based in France, and is the U.S. operation of the popular European beauty retailer. It sells makeup, skin care, fragrance, bath and hair care products by many makers and has its own label.
A Sephora spokesperson couldn’t be reached for comment Thursday.
