Federal Way police are searching for a Puyallup-area man suspected of trying to kill his former boss at a Federal Way apartment complex last week.
King County prosecutors have charged Kareem Harris, 27, with attempted second-degree murder in connection with the Wednesday shooting. A warrant has been issued for Harris’ arrest. Federal Way police have been searching for him since the shooting.
The 47-year-old victim, who was shot several times, was being treated for his injuries.
Charging documents indicate the two worked together at Milgard Windows & Doors in Fife.
Harris was a day-shift machine operator until May when he was fired for falsifying his timecard, the documents state. Another employee also was terminated.
The victim, Harris’ boss, discovered the fraudulent activity.
Court documents indicate Harris made threats to the victim and another man.
The shooting occurred just before 5:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 100 block of South 340th Street in Federal Way. There were reports of six gunshots fired, and a dark-colored vehicle was seen leaving the area, according to court documents.
Officers arrived and found the victim lying on the ground, a short distance from his car. The driver’s door of his car was open and the driver’s side window broken out.
The gunshot victim identified himself and said Harris had shot him.
“(The victim) also stated that Harris told him that he was going to do this and that the dispute was over Harris getting fired from Milgard Windows in Fife,” charging documents state.
Federal Way police said Harris should be considered armed and dangerous. Anyone who sees him should call 911.
Harris is 6-feet-1 and 195 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. His last known address was in Puyallup. He’s been associated with a 2006 white, four-door Chrysler 300 with Washington license plate 657-YOQ and a 1989 white, four-door Chevrolet Caprice with Washington license plate 187-UBU.
