Lakewood police were searching for a man charged in two bank robberies and suspected in two others in recent weeks.
Prosecutors charged Timothy E. Nuss, 31, Wednesday with two counts of first-degree robbery. A warrant was issued for his arrest. Tacoma-Pierce County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward for Nuss’ capture.
In court documents, prosecutors charge Nuss with robbing a Lakewood Heritage Bank branch Sept. 14 and a Lakewood KeyBank branch Monday.
He also is the suspect in the robbery of a Rainier Pacific Bank branch on Canyon Road on Oct. 26 and a U.S. Bank branch in Tacoma on Oct. 28. Charges have not yet been filed in those cases, however.
In the two Lakewood robberies, the bandit handed the tellers notes that demanded cash. The notes indicated he was armed with a weapon, police reported.
Each time, the robber took cash and fled.
Police released surveillance images of the bank robber after the Sept. 14 heist at Heritage Bank.
A Lynnwood police officer who saw the images on The News Tribune’s Web site contacted Lakewood police and identified the robber as Nuss, according to court documents. Nuss’ mother also was interviewed and told detectives that the bank robber was her son.
She told investigators she kicked him out of the house. She also said he’d promised to turn himself in.
Nuss is described as white, 6 feet tall and 180 pounds. He has blond hair and blue eyes. He’s been known to frequent motels in the Tacoma and Lakewood areas.
Crime Stoppers is offering up to $1,000 for information on Nuss’ whereabouts. Tipsters can remain anonymous.
