Puyallup police were searching Thursday for the man who robbed a South Hill bank branch.
The robber entered the Key Bank, 3903 S. Meridian, just before 11 a.m. and gave the teller a note that demanded money, police Lt. Dave McDonald said. The man implied he had a weapon but didn’t show one.
The robber got an undisclosed amount of money and fled. Police later found evidence a dye pack given to the robber had exploded in the parking lot, McDonald said.
Officers and a police dog spent time searching for the robber around the South Hill Mall.
He was described as being thin, in his mid-30s and 6 feet 1 inch tall. He had a scruffy beard and pale skin. He wore a green camouflage-type coat, blue jeans and dark hat.
Officers said he should have red ink on himself or his jacket.
Investigators were looking at whether the robber is tied to another recent heist in Puyallup and others in Pierce County.
