A Washington State Patrol trooper was in stable condition at St. Francis Hospital on Saturday evening after her patrol car was struck by another driver in Federal Way.
The crash took place at the intersection of Highway 18 and Enchanted Parkway at 4:30 p.m. Saturday. A white Ford pickup truck traveling westbound off Highway 18 made a turn too quickly and lost control, according to the State Patrol. The driver crossed two northbound lanes, went over a raised median and struck the WSP car, which was southbound, on the driver’s side door.
The trooper is a 31-year-old with seven years of patrol experience. The Ford driver, a 46-year-old man from University Place, was arrested by troopers under suspicion of DUI with an emphasis on prescription medicine.
