A semi truck lost its drivetrain on Interstate 5 early Wednesday resulting in an epic morning commute for many South Sound residents.
The driver of the truck was able to safely maneuver the vehicle to the side of the interstate near the U.S. Route 101 junction in Tumwater, said state trooper Brooke Bova. However, the truck started leaking fuel and the Department of Ecology was dispatched for clean up. Northbound I-5 was blocked for more than four hours and traffic was detoured via Route 101 and surface streets.
The agency announced at 9 a.m. that all lanes were open.
