Work to repair a drainage system along state Route 7 is keeping a lane of the road and the South 38th Street ramp closed longer than expected.
The right lane of south SR 7 is closed approaching South 38th Street, and the south SR 7 exit to westbound South 38th Street is shutdown to traffic, the state Department of Transportation said Wednesday afternoon.
Both were supposed to open by 4 p.m., but as of 1:30 p.m. that had been delayed until 5 a.m. Thursday.
Drivers should avoid the area, because no detours are provided, the department said.
Crews removed asphalt in the closed lane and exposed the drainage system to make the repairs, and determined those fixes will take longer than initially expected. Workers will repave the road overnight.
