Two women were hurt Sunday night after their SUV hit a guardrail on state Route 16 and rolled down an embankment near Gig Harbor, officials said Monday.
The driver, a 26-year-old Kent woman, was traveling west on state Route 16 about 6:50 p.m. when she lost control of the SUV as she neared Burnham Drive in Gig Harbor, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The SUV hit the guardrail and rolled downhill until it came to rest on its top. The driver and her passenger, a 28-year-old Fife woman, were taken to area hospitals.

Alcohol or drugs likely contributed to the wreck, according to the State Patrol.
State Route 16 was blocked for more than an hour, leading to a four-mile traffic backup, as troopers investigated the crash.
