Work on East 28th Street in Tacoma will close the roadway on weeknights starting Monday, through the end of August.
The state Department of Transportation will repave the street and install water lines and roadway drainage. That means crews will have to close the street between Portland Avenue East and East Bay Street from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m. each night.
Drivers will be detoured to East 26th Street to get to Interstate 5, and to East 29th Street to get to state Route 167.
The construction is part of a project to help alleviate congestion on Interstate 5 through Tacoma.
