Up to three lanes of southbound Interstate 5 will be closed overnight from Port of Tacoma Road to L Street two nights this week.
Lane closures will begin 8 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, the state Department of Transportation reported. All lanes should be reopened by 6 a.m. the next day.
The closures are part of the long effort to resurface and expand I-5 through Tacoma to make way for eventual HOV lanes.
Intermittent short-term ramp closures are expected between Port of Tacoma Road and Portland Avenue during those days, DOT said.
Drivers can expect the following I-5 ramps to be closed as the week progresses:
▪ Interstate 705/Pacific Avenue on-ramps to southbound I-5, Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday from 10 p.m. until 6 a.m. the following day and Thursday from 11 p.m. to 6 a.m. Friday.
▪ The East 27th Street on-ramp to southbound I-5, Monday from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m. Tuesday.
▪ The exit from northbound I-5 to Portland Avenue, Wednesday from 12:01 a.m. to 4 a.m.
