A Grayland man died Saturday night after a crash that blocked both directions of Highway 8 about two miles east of the Grays Harbor county line for several hours, according to state and local agencies.
Dennis Pruitt, 58, was driving a 2002 Jeep Wrangler headed west on Highway 8 at Milepost 19 around 8 p.m., when the Jeep left the roadway, went down an embankment and struck two maple trees, according to the Washington State Patrol.
The cause of the crash is under investigation, according to the State Patrol. Pruitt was wearing a seat belt, the State Patrol reported.
According to the state Department of Transportation, investigators opened both directions of the road around 11:15 p.m.
Pruitt’s family has been notified, according to the Thurston County Coroner’s Office.
