The King County Medical Examiner's Office has confirmed the man whose body was found inside a West Seattle home was David Severtson, who authorities were trying to evict when a fire broke out.
The King County Sheriff's Office says Severtson died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and his death was ruled a suicide.
A Seattle Fire Department investigator concluded that Severtson started the fire using gasoline.
Authorities say they tried contacting Severtson when they arrived for the eviction but got no response. Authorities said a SWAT team was there as a precaution because Severtson had ignored earlier eviction notices and had two dozen firearms registered in his name.
The sheriff's office says 20 rifles including some propped near windows were found in the home afterward.
The homeowner who had recently died had been trying to evict her son since last year.
