With only one day left to file for office in Pierce County, 10 cities and towns had no competitive races as of Thursday afternoon.
University Place, Sumner, Fife and Fircrest still had only one candidate file for each office up for election later this year. The same held true for the smaller municipalities of Buckley, Eatonville, Roy, Ruston, South Prairie and Wilkeson.
Similarly, each of the two open seats on Pierce County Superior Court has had only one filing all week.
In other highlights from Day 4 of filing week:
A total of 275 people had filed as of Thursday for some of the more than 200 local offices up for election this year on city and town councils; school, fire, parks and recreation, and water district boards; the Superior Court bench; and the Port of Tacoma commission.
