Vikki Smith, 45-year employee of the state Department of Revenue, will be the agency’s new director, Gov. Jay Inslee announced Thursday.
Smith has served as the department’s interim director since January 2015, since former revenue director Carol K. Nelson left for a job in the private sector. Before that, Smith was the agency’s deputy director.
According to a press release from the governor, Smith began working at the Department of Revenue in 1970, when she started as a summer temporary clerk.
Her appointment as the agency’s new director takes effect immediately.
