Construction this week on the new Tacoma Narrows bridge:
Crews will continue to string the bundles of wire that will make up the bridge’s main suspension cables.
Each bundle consists of 464 individual wires that are 0.196 inches in diameter. Nineteen such bundles will comprise each suspension cable when completed.
Workers completed “spinning” the first bundle last week. They will work on bundles No. 2 and 3 this week on the south cable.
Never miss a local story.
In other areas, workers will plant landscaping, continue seismic retrofit work and install wiring and other electrical equipment.
