Tacoma Narrows Constructors lifted the last deck section off the transport vessel the Swan on Thursday afternoon and plans to haul the big ship out of the Narrows beginning about 10 this morning.
Only three short gaps remain in the bridge’s deck, and TNC plans to have those gaps filled with the final sections by the end of next week.
That will bring to an end the deck-lifting portion of bridge construction, the last major phase of the five-year project.
TNC crews will spend a day in Commencement Bay clearing the Swan’s deck of lifting and transport equipment, said TNC’s superstructure manager, Dave Climie.
Then the ship will set sail for its next assignment in China.
