Business is not as usual at some local schools today. Standing water on roadways, a power outage and road closures have caused some Pierce County schools to close and some to change bus routes.

CLOSURES

Schools in the Carbonado School District are closed today.

Ptarmigan Ridge Elementary School and Partnership School in Orting are closed today because of the rising water.

Lake Louise Elementary School in the Clover Park School District is closed because of a a power outage.

BUS ROUTE CHANGES

Orting School District: There is no bus service on Highway 162 at Orville Road to South Prairie because of flooding. Brooks Road is also closed to buses; students can meet their bus at Orville Road and Brooks Road. Alerts are available on the school district's Web site, www.orting.wednet.edu.

Sumner School District: Bus transportation into neighborhoods near the Puyallup River where there is high water on the roadway or flooding might be canceled or rerouted.
