Point Ruston developer Loren Cohen hit the pickle jar when he said, "Ruston was not equipped to permit a half of a $1.2 billion development on contaminated land."
I agree with Cohen and would point out that the small-time Show Boat Casino has packed up and departed from Ruston. If Ruston officials couldn't even work with a small business, why are we expecting them to handle their half of Point Ruston?
I understand the issues are very serious and complex, but take into account whats' at stake: current and future jobs along with a $31 million loan owed to Tacoma by the developer. If Ruston can't figure this out, there's no other option but for Tacoma to annex.
