Re: "No fast relief for I-5 traffic nightmare" (TNT, 5-18).
I crossed over Interstate 5 on the Yakima Avenue bridge the other day, and when I looked down at the traffic I thought, "This is as bad as L.A. traffic."
It seems to me that someone in the last 20 years has really dropped the ball when it comes to highway construction in Pierce County. There are many other highways that should have been widened besides I-5. Have you ever traveled the two-lane nightmare from Purdy westbound? State Route 302 should have been taken care of years ago.
I certainly hope highway officials start focusing on other roads besides this stretch of I-5. They need to look 20 years into the future, not just a few months into the future.
