Well here we are again, folks. It's the time of the year when a few of our irresponsible citizens circumvent the rights of their neighbors and launch banned rockets into the sky.
Let me make myself clear: I don't want limit their right to have fun, I just want my right to have a peaceful existence. I don't want my home burned to the ground, I don't want my pet to be cowering in fear, I don't want any of our brave military heroes that may be suffering from PTSD to be adversely affected and I surely do not want our police to ignore lawbreakers.
In this period of burn bans, does it make any sense to allow fireworks to be used by the unqualified? Our public officials have banned all outdoor burning, but fireworks are OK because they are for a celebration.
Come on, Pierce County, it is now time to ban all fireworks for personal use and enforce that ban. Council members and the county executive are supposed to be representing all citizens.
Watch the local news; already several fires have been started by fireworks. Enough is enough!
