Having served in elected office in Tacoma for 10 years, including on the City Council, and producing major events for 27 years, I’ve seen the impact one person can make.
Aug. 4 is the deadline to vote and help shape the future of Tacoma. Every uncast ballot and uneducated vote erodes the ability to make a meaningful impact. Failure has serious consequences.
The best candidates can motivate people with a visionary goal and have the ability to unify when others divide. I’ve had the opportunity to see Tacoma City Council District 3 candidate Tom McCarthy in action. He has been an articulate voice and a successful coalition builder.
McCarthy has united business and labor to work to preserve jobs and seek viable solutions for preservation of the Click Network. He also demonstrated an enlightened view of how to showcase the city and inspire community spirit the way our first Tall Ships Festival did in 2005.
This is Tacoma voters’ chance to chart the course for the City of Destiny. The right people are needed to navigate around the dangers ahead and help get everyone pulling in the same direction. Choose wisely!
