How will two firings compensate citizens for development damage?
Re: “City manager ousts two after ‘very bad week’” (TNT, 9-7).
And this is supposed to be ample compensation to the thousands of Northeast Tacoma homeowners adversely affected by this “mistake”?
The two “ousted” employees will no doubt gain other employment and the “very bad week” will be quickly forgotten. What won’t be forgotten is the loss of a beautiful area of open space, 70-year-old trees and lush grass, to be replaced by lower home values, overcrowded schools, yet more traffic congestion and overextended emergency services.
Something really smells bad about this “mistake” and it is not the “aroma of Tacoma.”
