Congress would repeal law of supply and demand

Re: “A chance at last to undo the ethanol boondoggle” (editorial, 5-7).

This editorial hits the mark. Congress is the problem and not the solution to the rising cost of fuel. Too many of those we have elected seem to vote in their own self-interest and not for the good of our country.

While Congress refuses to allow drilling in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or off the coast of Florida, California and other places in the U.S., Cuba and the Chinese drill a few miles from Florida in our own back yard.

Do our elected officials believe they have the power to repeal the economic law of supply and demand? Do they not understand that if more oil is produced here, gas prices will probably drop? And by reducing our reliance on foreign oil, we keep our dollars at home instead of sending them to unfriendly foreign countries.
