By the numbers

The amount of a grant from Washington’s National Park Fund that paid for flights last week to count elk in Olympic National Park. Staff from the park and U.S. Geological Survey did the aerial counts in the subalpine and alpine meadows of the Elwha, Hoh, South Fork Hoh, Queets and Quinault valleys.
