There’s still 7 ½ months left to train for the 34th Capital City Marathon, but registration opens Wednesday, Oct. 1.
Registration for the marathon is $70, the half marathon is $60 and the 5-mile race is $30 through Oct. 5. The prices increase to $80, $70 and $35 respectively on Oct. 6.
"We are looking forward to another fantastic event next year," race director Nona Snell said in a prepared statement. "We recognize that running races is not inexpensive, so this year we decided to offer a discounted rate to those who commit to the race early."
The race, the South Sound’s oldest marathon, is scheduled for May 17, 2015.
Never miss a local story.
The course will be recertified this fall by USA Track and Field. "We are considering minor changes to the course and hope to announce a final decision about them before the end of the year," Snell said.
The course was due for recertification this year , but past champion Gary Cooper was among a small group of runners who contend the course is actually longer than 26.2 miles.
Registration for the 2015 race will be available at capitalcitymarathon.org/registration.html.
