The Olympic Hot Springs area will be closed Saturday-Wednesday while crews replace the bridge over Boulder Creek, Olympic National Park announced Thursday.
The park trail crew starts the project on National Trails Day. The deteriorating bridge provides access to the backcountry hot springs in the Elwha Valley.
The closure, which includes the pools, is necessary to protect workers and visitors, the park said in a statement. Materials have been fabricated off-site to reduce the closure time.
The park plans to keep open the Boulder Creek camping area and Appleton Pass and Boulder Lake trails.
