Index walking tour
WHAT: The Index Historical Society offers this educational and fun guided walking tour of the town of Index. The small town sits on the banks of the North Fork Skykomish River, just off Stevens Pass Highway.
WHEN: 1-4:45 p.m. May 21.
WHERE: Index-Pickett Historical Museum, 510 Ave. A, Index.

ON THE WALK: Participants will learn fun facts about the town’s history, visit key sites from Index’s past and have the chance to ask questions. The walk will last about 45 minutes. Be sure to dress for the weather.
BUSH HOUSE: Taking place from noon-4 p.m. the same day will be the Bush House Inn historic photo shoot. Staff will be recreating historic photos and shooting new ones that will be used during the inn’s grand reopening later this year. The historic inn has been undergoing major renovations since 2012.
THE MUSEUM: The museum will be open noon-5 p.m. that day. The museum uses images from nationally known photographer Lee Pickett and others, as well as artifacts, to tell the story of the Index area. The museum is in Pickett’s former home. It is typically open noon-3 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays from Memorial Day weekend through the end of September.
ADMISSION: $5 suggested donation, free for historical society members.
