Donate bikes to West Africa students
Bicycles for Education, a group that lists its mission as promoting gender equality and community empowerment in Togo, West Africa, seeks bicycle donations to benefit students there.
Students in Togo walk up to 20 miles a day to attend school, and dropout rates in rural areas are more than 90 percent for girls, according to the group.
Bicycles can be donated from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday at the Fish Tale Brew Pub, 515 Jefferson St. S.E., Olympia. The bicycles then will be shipped to Togo and given to girls who live in rural areas, organizer David Goldman said.
