Time for moving ahead to joy: Crowd gathers to remember Powell boys
One year after Josh Powell killed his sons Charlie and Braden, ages 7 and 5, and set fire to his Graham-area rental house, family and friends of the boys say its time for recovery and to salvage whatever good they can from the tragedy.
The road that winds through Puyallups Woodbine Cemetery was bumper to bumper Tuesday night, as people turned out into the cold to dedicate the graveyards new angel, and to remember angels of their own.
On Monday, a 10,000-pound statue was erected at Woodbine Cemetery in Puyallup on a hill overlooking the resting place of Charlie and Braden Powell. The boys, ages 7 and 5, were killed by their father, Josh Powell, earlier this year during a supervised visit at his rented home in the Graham area.
A 10,000-pound marble angel was installed today above the shared grave of Charlie and Braden Powell. The statue will be set at the top of the childrens hill of Puyallup's Woodbine Cemetery.
Today would have been the 31st birthday of Susan Cox Powell and supporters are celebrating with a song written in honor of the missing Utah mother and her two sons.
