Jason Munson of Auburn won a cooking contest that started at the 2011 Puyallup Fair and will end with a trip to Hawaii. And he did it with a can of Spam.

Calvin Goings hasn’t forgotten his ties to the Puyallup community. Now serving under President Barack Obama as the assistant associate administrator for the U.S. Small Business Administration, Goings has come a long way since he was a bright-eyed and optimistic teenager with his eye on a local election.

South Hill infant faces heart surgery

Kim and Tim Burgardt were excited when they went to the doctor for the ultrasound that would tell them the sex of their first child. But they were stunned to learn that their son would be born with a serious heart condition.

Officer earns top award with Puyallup police

When Kevin Karuzas grew up on South Hill, he was enamored by movies about police officers in action and police cars he’d see rushing to a scene with blue and red lights flashing. Karuzas recently was selected as the Puyallup Police Department’s 2011 Officer of the Year.
