Lives of pioneer women come to life in 'Quilters' musical

Eleven actresses are part of a musical called "Quilters," presented by Act 1 Theatre Productions, that tells a series of short stories about pioneer women, their triumphs and hardships in the American West, all woven together in the individual blocks of a quilt. Showtimes are tonight, Saturday and Sunday.

The Sumner-based Golden State Foods Foundation chapter traveled to Portland, Ore., last month to be part of the first national Build-a-Bike program. The Sumner-area employees helped 25 children of the Portland Boys & Girls Club build their own bikes.
