You can bag it with Target line

Designer Monica Botkier’s handbags are an armful if you’re willing to pay anywhere from $395 for a clutch up to $695 for a hobo bag.

But Target has debuted a line of Botkier bags (and accessories) that are a whole lot easier on the pocketbook, so to speak. It will be the seventh collection in a series of limited-time-only accessories introduced by Target. The Botkier line will be available at select stores and online (www.target.com) through Sept. 14.

Botkier is known for using hardware as what she calls the “jewelry” of her handbags. The bags also are functional as a fashion accessory. That’s why she’s amassed a celebrity clientele that includes Jessica Alba, Kate Bosworth and new mom Angelina Jolie, who probably has already commissioned Botkier baby bags for her twins.

A native New Yorker, Botkier started in the fashion industry as a photographer for several magazines. With an eye for detail, she designed and launched her first handbag collection in 2003. This spring, she introduced footwear.

For Target, Botkier will offer clutches, wristlets, satchels and hobos in black, fuchsia, white and several eye-catching metallics. She even incorporated the Target “bull’s-eye” logo as a signature piece of hardware on each bag. It also doubles as a removable key chain.

The collection ranges in price from $19.99 to $49.99.
